Good analysis of Twitter’s actual business model by Ben Brooks. He proposes that either Twitter start running ads in the timeline, or they charge ¢50 a month for the service.
On the one hand, charging for the service would make Twitter lose lots of its users. But in the other hand, it would drastically drop running costs, thus diminishing the need for the service to be monetized. It would also keep spam low, which would not be a luxury…
