Textify – Convert images to HTML text

Hakim El Hattab has posted an interesting experiment on Twitter, and by interesting I mean stunning.

I’ve spent literally dozens of minutes this morning trying out a few combinations and came up with the results below. In every case I’ve set the number of characters to 100,000 and let the scale at 1.0; only the set of characters was changed: •, #&§8$£%€, -—–_=, iIl!|, -—–_=iIl!|, <>x^v\/, (){}[], abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz, and 1234567890.

For the record, I’ve used a picture of Spielberg’s upcoming “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (2011)”, adapation of Hergé’s famous comic.

Co-produced by both Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, with original music by John Williams, and starring the voices of Daniel Craig as Red Rackham, Jamie Bell as Tintin, Gad Elmaleh¹ as Ben Salaad), I couldn’t be any eagerer to watch it!
