Google X

The existence of a secret division inside Google, dubbed Google X, was revealed by the New York Times last week. It is to Google what PARC was to Xerox, only it apparently focuses on even crazier dreams.

The main concern, it seems, is that this crazy endeavor is chopping away money that could be invested elsewhere inside Google to make it even more profitable. While this may well be true, I think it’s crucial to have such a place in a company that fosters innovation: what better way to nurture it than to allow for the most talented engineers to try to achieve their dreams?

While investors may not recoup their investment, mankind could probably benefit a lot in the end.
