Consumer Reports’s “Professional” Test of the New iPad

Consumer Reports:

Our tests follow numerous complaints now cropping up about how hot the new iPad can get while doing processor-intensive tasks, such as gaming or downloads.

So, the iPad 3 gets hot. What’s ‘hot’ though?

From the dictionary:

hot/hät/ Adjective:

  • Having a high degree of heat or a high temperature.
  • Feeling or producing an uncomfortable sensation of heat.

So, ‘hot’ is linked to ‘uncomfortable’. Okay.

From Consumer Reports, again:

When it was at its hottest, it felt very warm but not especially uncomfortable if held for a brief period.

Is it hot or is it not? That’s kind of confusing. This casts a doubt on how expert Consumer Reports claims to be…
