Safari 5.2 Beta's Big-Ass Tabs, For and Against

John Gruber and MG Siegler on Safari 5.2’s wide tabs:

In Safari 5.2, tabs consume the full width of the window, even if there are only one or two tabs. I find that this is aesthetically unpleasing, and would like to see the old tab bar return.

I’d like to add that Safari 5.2 also lacks the loading indicator in the tabs that 5.1 had. And, along with these big-ass tabs, it’s the only annoyance I can find in the finest version of Safari to date.
