Bring That ‘Back’ Key Back to Safari 6

With Safari 6, Apple changed something I assumed was standard in any browser: he Backspace key doesn’t go back.

I used to have a workaround thanks to Keyboard Maestro but it was inelegant.

Yesterday, I asked on Twitter if it was a bug, but no one answered. I asked today on Alpha1, and Fernando Garcia answered my call:

No, it doesn’t. but you can type in terminal: defaults write com.apple.Safari NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add Back "\U232b" to recover it.

It works and brings back the feature that I use the most in any browser.

Thank you very, very much Fernando!

  1. I find “Alpha” a far better name than “App.net” or “ADN”. ↩
