Sony QX Smart Lens

It’s actually a very good concept nowadays: everyone has a smartphone, but fewer and fewer own a camera.

Our smartphones get better and better at taking pictures – Nokia and HTC have made considerable improvements on this front recently – and the camera market is slowly dying off. Sony, although a recent newcomer in the camera industry, is trying to find alternate ways to do business, and this is very smart.

However, as for the actual thing, I fear that Wi-Fi or any other wireless way of connecting the lens to a smartphone is actually too slow, and the lag will be too noticeable. I know not everyone needs fast autofocus, but it is frustrating to notice lag.

We will see how this experiment fares. I sure wish Sony the best.
